Geography:
Hungary is located in the middle part of Europe, in the Carpathian Basin, surrounded by the Carpathian Mountains, the Alps. Hungary is located between 45°44'-48°35' Northern latitude and 16°07'-22°54' Eastern latitude.
Area: 93 030 km2, 1 percent of Europe.  
Approximately 3/4 of the country is low plain, 1/5 of the country is lower than 400 meter wold and around 5 percent is middle-mountain region between 400-1000 meters.
The highest point of the country is Kékes Peak (1014 meters) in the Mátra Mountains
Population:
As of January 10, 2005. the population of Hungary is 10 096 000, and is decraesing progressively.
Population density: 108,5 person/km2
Climate:
Hungary is located in the moderate climate zone, surrounded by three main climate regions: Oceanic, Continental and Mediterranean climate zones. The weather can be extreme sometimes, dominated mainly by dry weather induced by the closeness of Carpathian Basin.
Significant rivers:
The country is divided to 2 parts by the Danube, that is the second largest river in Europe and the main river of Fentral Europe. The second in line is Tisza, with a lenght of 596 km in Hungary.
Main feeders of Danube: Dráva on the Southern borders, Lajta on the Small Plateau, Rába, on the left side of Danube and Ipoly bordering with Slovak Republic.  
The main feeders of Tisza from right side: Bodrog, Sajó Zagyva, from ledt side Szamos, Hármas-Körös and Maros.
Significant lakes:
Lake Balaton (Largest lake of Central Europe).
Lake Velence - area of 26 km2 .
Fertõtó located near the Austrian border (The Hungarian part is 75 km2).
